While some women renounce delicacies to lose a few kilos, journalist Marion (33) has to make the greatest effort to gain weight. You can read Marion's story in the August issue. She shares her tips for gaining weight in a healthy way.
- Eat regularly, at least every two and a half hours.
- Make sure your meals don't consist of sugar, fat and other empty calories, but of good carbohydrates, proteins and unsaturated fats. Think, for example, of oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, meat, beans, fatty fish and eggs.
- High-calorie and healthy sandwich fillings are, for example, organic peanut butter, cheese or avocado.
- Vegetables and fruits are healthy, but some types contain more calories than others. When it comes to calories, choose banana, mango, pear, orange, pineapple, corn, avocado, parsnip, kale, carrots, peas or green beans.
- Avoid ready-made sauces, but make them yourself based on yogurt, olive oil, cheese or coconut milk. Pesto is healthy and high in calories.
- Unsalted nuts, cheese, dates and olives are examples of healthy and high-calorie snacks.
- Not hungry? Sometimes it's easier to drink calories than eat them. For example, make a smoothie with (almond) milk, avocado and fresh fruit.
