Diets almost never work, but why is that? Often we want to lose too much weight at once. With these tips you will succeed in losing (a little) weight.
1. Stop exercising to lose weight
Research by the University of California shows that people who exercise to become slim subconsciously compensate more:for example, they eat more sandwiches and exercise less during the day.
2. Drink water before eating
Research by the University of Birmingham shows that drinking half a liter of water half an hour before a meal can help with weight loss. Water makes you feel full so you don't feel the need to scoop a second time.
3. Eat an ice cube as a snack
An ice cube contains no calories, but does allow your body to burn calories, says Brian Weiner, a professor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. According to Weiner, you burn 160 calories per liter of ice cubes because your body has to make an effort to process the cold ice.
4. Don't look in the mirror By being less concerned with your appearance, it is easier to eat less and therefore lose weight, according to a publication in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. So hang a small mirror at eye level and get rid of the full-length mirror.
5. Less alcohol
Alcohol kills the line. This is partly because too much alcohol slows down your metabolism. As a result, your body converts energy into fat. At the same time, you get more food cravings. Therefore, try not to drink more than one glass per day.
