It is not easy to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Heart Foundation sees this too and that is why the foundation is investing 7.5 million in research into maintaining a healthy lifestyle together with ZonMw.
Healthy living can reduce several health risks. You don't have to tell most people that. Nowadays there are plenty of cookbooks, training programs and apps that help you, but in practice it turns out to be quite difficult to keep up.
The Heart Foundation is looking for new ways to better maintain healthier choices and behaviour. The research focuses on young people aged 10 to 14, cardiovascular patients and adults with a lower socioeconomic status.
Among other things, research is being conducted into whether people are more likely to choose a healthy product if changes are made in the supermarket. A similar study into vegetarian choices is currently underway in the UK. Furthermore, it is being investigated, for example, whether cardiovascular patients benefit from individual coaching in combination with rewarding healthy behaviour.
