There is a lot to do about not having breakfast. Studies are regularly conducted that should provide insight into the effects of skipping breakfast.
A few days ago we saw the message on Nu.nl 'Skipping breakfast associated with arteriosclerosis' People who eat breakfast are said to have a higher risk of narrowing of the blood vessels. This increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Should we be concerned?
Not all of us have breakfast faithfully at the Santé editorial office. In fact:Santé's Saskia very consciously skips breakfast. It is a form of intermittent fasting. For Saskia it is not a diet, she eats as many calories as before, but less in one meal per day. Read a preview of Saskia's story here.
The last sentence of the article on Nu.nl is perhaps somewhat reassuring:'The scientists emphasize that the people in the study who did not eat breakfast had an unhealthy lifestyle on average.' Perhaps not only breakfast is decisive. One of the points you can read more about in Saskia's article from October 10.
