It is known that anxiety and (competition) tension have a bad influence on sleep. Here are a few tips what you can do with (the prevention of) sleeping problems:
• Tension disappears through relaxation. So go for a workout or go for a walk. And even doing a crossword puzzle helps to relax.
• Avoid heavy meals, smoking, alcohol and drinks that contain caffeine. Alcohol makes it easier to fall asleep but causes you to sleep less deeply and wake up more often.
• Take regular short breaks during working hours.
• Seek support from friends and family:a good conversation or a listening ear reduces tension. It also helps to 'write down' problems.
• Only go to sleep when you are really tired and don't watch television in bed.
