This is the reason why you (sometimes) have sleeping problems

It is a question that everyone asks themselves sometimes:why do I (sometimes) sleep so badly? One thing was most often mentioned during a study when it comes to the reason for having sleep problems. And that is…

A survey of 13,000 adults from 13 countries into what could be the reason for sleeping problems shows that only 49 percent say they are satisfied with their sleep.

What keeps us from sleeping?

But what keeps people from sleeping? The most frequently mentioned reason is worry/stress. It doesn't matter whether it's about work, money, relationships, family or daily worries. Stress is known to have a huge influence on the quality and quantity of sleep.

Screen

Another factor mentioned is screen behavior just before going to bed. A whopping 75 percent of those surveyed admitted to checking their cellphones just before going to bed. 39 percent say they check their phone just before falling asleep and also when they wake up.

The screen ensures that falling asleep takes longer and longer and that it helps insomnia and chronic fatigue.

Partner

But another reason is mentioned that can cause sleeping problems:your bed partner. More than 33 percent of those surveyed say they sometimes sleep separately to get a better night's sleep. 30 percent say that the partner's sleeping behavior influences the relationship!

Despite all these causes of sleep problems, it appears that very few people really do anything to get rid of them.

Tips for a good sleep routine

The best thing you can do to get a good night's sleep is to maintain a regular routine to help you relax. These tips will also help you feel a little more relaxed before going to sleep.

  • Dim the lights
  • Read a (boring) book
  • Take a warm bath or shower
  • Do a short sleep meditation
  • Do breathing exercises
  • Or give yourself a neck massage

And it is therefore the intention that in such a sleeping routine a screen is ignored and that it is also not present in the bedroom. And if your partner is the cause of your sleeping problems, you may want to consider a sleep separation…
