Supermarkets in disadvantaged neighborhoods in Amsterdam will try to stunt the price of healthy food next year as an experiment. This examines whether the food choice of consumers is changing.
The trial is an initiative of the Institute of Health Sciences from the Free University in Amsterdam.
‘Interviews have shown that people are, for example, very sensitive to offers , so supermarkets will soon be strong with fruit and vegetables instead of big bags of chips. We expect a lot from that," said director Jaap Seidell in Het Parool.
It is not yet known how many supermarkets are participating in the trial.
