We are talking about masks offering better protection such as FFP2. In addition, the government has announced an order for 250 million masks which will be delivered gradually while our needs would be 24 million masks per week.
The LVMH group (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) has indicated that it intends to offer 10 million masks in France. The group praised its global network for finding a supplier in China. This first delivery concerns more specifically 7 million surgical masks and 3 million FFP2 masks . The Bouygues group will also make a gesture and offer 1 million masks. And they are not the only ones, many artisans and entrepreneurs donate their own stock to doctors and hospitals.
Today, the United States has 26,138 confirmed cases for more than 300 deaths . Now, this country has more confirmed cases than Spain and has moved into third place among the most affected countries. The most affected states are Washington and New York with 94 and 75 deaths respectively. These areas will be subject to containment, as is already the case in California.
Panic seems to be gripping the population, as evidenced by the storming of the country's armories. Moreover, the United States does not have enough tests and not enough masks of protection, while hospitals expect to be overwhelmed.
In Europe, the situation is chaotic with Italy counting almost 53,578 cases for 4,825 deaths . As for Spain, it reports more than 25,496 cases for 1,381 deaths. In addition, Germany has far exceeded France in the number of cases (22,364) but still has relatively few deaths (84) thanks to massive screening measures allowing patients to be hospitalized as soon as possible. Let us also mention Switzerland (6,652 cases / 80 deaths) and the United Kingdom (5,067 / 233) which calls on fragile people to remain confined for a period of 3 months. All European countries are affected, of whichtwenty have more than a thousand cases.
For their part, China and South Korea, which have almost finished with the epidemic, are seeing their figures remain at a very low level. In Iran, where the epidemic is also slowing down (if official figures are to be believed), there are now 20,610 cases for 1,556 deaths. Moreover, as everyone knows, the pandemic has spread to Latin America and Africa . The most affected countries in Latin America are Brazil (1,021 cases / 18 deaths), Chile (537 / 8) and Ecuador (532 / 7). On the African side, we can mention Egypt (294 / 10) as well as South Africa (240 / 0).
Around the world, nearly a billion people are subject to containment measures. Today, the balance sheet shows almost 310,000 confirmed cases for more than 13,000 deaths.
