How many times have we heard the tip:don't go to the supermarket on an empty stomach. The advice turns out to be even more important than expected. You don't just buy more food when you're hungry.
Other products are also more eagerly placed in your basket if you are hungry
Researchers at the University of Minnesota found that hungry people are even more likely to be tempted to buy paper clips. Something you don't need every day.
The approach
During the study, half of the participants ate cake, the rest received nothing. It then turned out that the hungry group was 70 percent more likely to put paper clips on the shopping list.
Confirmation?
The second part of the investigation was held in a department store. Customers' receipts were checked and asked about their mood and how hungry they were. The hungry people spent on average 60 percent more money.
