Babies don t move enough and get fat

Not only do we exercise too little and eat too many calories. The same goes for babies and toddlers. Why is it and what can you do about it?

Enough movement
Many parents use convenience products such as 'pajama snacks' and child seats. 'It is also important for children to exercise enough to burn calories,' says Lucy Smit, chairman of Doctors Youth Health Care Netherlands.

A few tips to get your children to exercise more
– Make sure your child spends enough time in the playpen or on the playpen mat. There, children can swing their legs or learn to roll on their sides.
– Give your child toys that encourage movement. Moving or ringing toys often work well.
– Play with your child. Encourage him or her to pick up toys, put together a puzzle or help your child stand on his or her feet.
– Go outside together. For toddlers, the playground is a good place to keep moving.

Nutrition
In addition, babies and toddlers should not get used to overeating or high-calorie foods. Some convenience products are promoted in such a way that they seem indispensable. It is still best to eat porridge from a plate with a spoon. That ensures a feeling of satiety more quickly.
