Unexpected effect
Researchers at the Helmholtz Zentrum München have discovered that psychological well-being does improve with weight gain. This pattern is especially evident in women. 3,000 people were examined for seven years. The effect was also observed in women who were already overweight at the start of that period.

Great influence
The research shows how complicated the influence of weight gain actually is. Physically and mentally the influences differ considerably. It is important that researchers gain more insight into this, so that people with obesity can be helped more effectively.
