Drinking a lot of milk would help reduce feelings of stress and thus prevent depression, burnout and heart disease, according to recent research.
This beneficial effect is said to be the result of the protein 'lactium' that is found in milk. This protein is said to lower blood pressure and reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, reports The Daily Mail earlier this week.
Scientists came up with the idea of investigating the effect of milk because of the calming effect that breast milk could have on babies. This also turned out to be the result of another protein (protein), but one called 'casein'.
However, the problem with lactium from regular milk is that adults have to drink huge amounts of it to get the sedative effect to be able to experience. A French company has looked into this matter and now comes up with a synthetic and many times more concentrated version of the said protein. The product was named Equilibrium with lactium and would tackle feelings of stress within an hour.
A scientific basis for the effect of Equilibrium with lactium delayed. So far, the drug has been tested on a limited group of 190 volunteers.
