We protect our fellow humans by wearing face masks. But we are also better equipped against pathogens if others use their masks responsibly. However, those who have to wear the protection not only during the short shopping trip, but – often for professional reasons – all day long, often have a hard time:you sweat quickly, you get bad breath and sometimes the mask smells unpleasant. Here we give tips on how to make wearing your mouth cap easier and much more comfortable.
Tip 1:Fragrance the mask with natural pure plant water
You can scent your cloth mask with organic plant water. Plant water – also called hydrosols or floral water – is a by-product of the extraction of essential oils by steam distillation. They contain the water-soluble ingredients of the respective plant and are used in aromatherapy, aroma care and natural cosmetic treatments as a gently effective care, for example as a facial water, aftershave and refreshing body spray.
To make your cloth mask smell nice, simply spray it with a plant water of your choice, such as orange blossom, peppermint or rose, and let the mask dry for five minutes. Then put on as usual. The effect: the mouth cap smells pleasant, you benefit from the beneficial effects of aromatherapy on the psyche.
Tip 2:Take a deep breath with essential oils
Breathing is hindered by the mouth cap. This can give the impression of not being able to breathe properly – up to and including feelings of oppression. Inhaling essential oils that provide clarity, strength and freshness can be of great help. Breathing deepens too. Just regularly sniff a fragrance mixture, for example with peppermint.
Tip 3:Help against pimples
Frequent wearing of a mask can cause pimples and impurities on the chin and mouth. These tend to form under the fabric in a warm, humid climate. Regular facial cleansing with mild cleansing gel and care with clarifying and soothing natural substances helps. For example, the active gel against pimples or the essential oils of tea tree, peppermint and lavender can be dabbed on the pimples on the skin. In addition, it is advisable to spray the face with skin brightening witch hazel water from time to time.
Tip 4:Nose care
The irritated nose is happy with a nourishing nose oil or balm. If you want to mix it yourself: Mix 10 ml of almond oil with essential oils (eg 2 drops of lavender and 1 drop of Manuka). To protect against infection and for nasal care, apply to the nostril several times a day with a cotton swab. The application already protects against germs when inhaled and makes it difficult for pathogens to attach to the nasal mucosa.
