I'm tired of all this whining about superfood. Everywhere you go you will be thrown to death with it. The craze has lasted long enough as far as I'm concerned. What's so great about superfood, aren't we going a little overboard?
Superfood is a collective name for a range of edible plants and fruits that are rich in essential nutrients. Such as protein, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, polysaccharides (or something), fatty acids and amino acids.
Let me state first that I am not a dietician or anything like that. On the contrary, I can recommend you so many tasty and unhealthy things! In my view we are going too far in all those yogurt pictures with berries and seeds. And also with those crooked faces that we pull when drinking some super smoothie that isn't very tasty but must be terribly healthy. Everyone is lyrical about a trend that has emerged and which I hope will disappear again.
Also I like healthy life. Good food, good drinks, a little exercise and a divine body. I don't mean to say that we should all run to the snack bar now for that peanut chips or that special frikandel, but I do mean that we should act normal for a while.

During my dance training I learned how important vitamins, minerals and healthy fats are. That a healthy diet is important for a good immune system, strong bones, your energy level, et cetera. It has even been proven that this healthy lifestyle can contribute to a longer lifespan, of which sufficient exercise is a recurring part. But never before have I heard about goji berries, linseed, green algae, quinoa and all the other superfoods that I can buy for a lot more money in the health food store.
Of course there are good substances and important vitamins in these wonders of nature, I also really believe that it is a nice addition to the normal diet. But sometimes we go too far in replacing normal meals with a bowl of yogurt with a berry.
It is generally known and researched that since this craze we start missing other essential substances. Something that really isn't good for you. Take Erasmus University's research on the lack of iodine by eliminating bread from our daily menu.
For example, they write that the sandwich should be returned to the table more often. Many people have largely banned bread from their diets in recent years, as it has come to be known as a fattening agent due to its carbohydrate content. However, excluding bread, an important source of iodine, is not without risks.
Since the superfood, I only see people around me fighting more with what they do and don't want to eat. The yo-yo effect is greater than ever because we are cutting out important meals and replacing them with the miracle cures. These remedies should be seen as supplement on your daily diet. So I don't think we're doing very well at all.
Luckily I have friends who love bunkering as much as I do. I'm not saying that's good, not at all. With them I can just sit on the couch, chat and eat. We call that our eating date. We often feel like everything that is loose and stuck.
First we feel like sweet, then we eat M&Ms or something… and then we feel like salt, we also eat chips or toast with bad toppings. And then some wine gums again. Because we think you should end on a sweet note.
How do I stay healthy and fit? I have breakfast with two sandwiches, in between I eat a piece of fruit, I have lunch with three sandwiches, at noon I eat a 'responsible' cookie (to what extent you can call cookies that) and in the evening I eat a nice large plate, or two. With lots of vegetables, meat and yes, also just pasta and potatoes. I also think there are healthy things in it. Do you want to lose weight? Are you just bragging a little less? Balance, I think that's what it's all about.
Shall we just do it? Then we are already crazy enough 😉 !
