Northern Italy is under the spell of the corona virus. It has now become known that a fifth fatality has been reported, an 88-year-old man. 219 people have now been infected in the north of Italy.
The Lombardy region has been particularly hard hit and residents are very concerned. Several villages have now been closed to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Italian government has recently taken additional measures. For example, some sources of infection in the north of Italy are subject to an entry and exit ban and access roads are controlled. Major events have been canceled in certain areas and public institutions such as museums, schools and universities have been closed.
