For the past few years, preventive health checks have become increasingly popular. Many people are still moving abroad for this. Minister Edith Schippers of Public Health also wants to make the tests in the Netherlands easier to access.
There are more and more options to check your health. With preventive health checks, there is often no direct medical reason for the examination. The minister believes that people should be allowed to decide for themselves whether they want to have such a test done.
It is important that good information is provided and that conditions are set for the quality, information provision, supervision and regulations surrounding these health checks. The possible disadvantages and consequences must also be clear.
At the beginning of 2016, various parties involved will discuss this topic and examine how preventive health checks should be dealt with in the Netherlands.
