In the Netherlands, approximately 150,000 women have been diagnosed with vaginismus. Yet it remains a difficult topic to talk about openly. Andrea will hopefully change that with her new video platform.
The 150,000 women who have been diagnosed with vaginismus are just the tip of the iceberg. For them and more women, having sex is impossible and having children becomes a lot more difficult. Vaginismus can be treated by a sexologist and/or pelvic floor specialist, but women must dare to take the step to seek help themselves.
Andrea came into contact with vaginismus a few years ago. She heard more and more stories from other women and was touched by them. The women are often ashamed and there is a lot of misunderstanding, so that women do not dare to call in help.
Andrea gives the taboo a face with the video platform Levenmetvaginisme.nl. Several women tell their stories. Andrea hopes that stories will provoke even more stories and that the taboo can be broken.
