Last week, the spread of swine flu in the Netherlands seems to have increased slightly. This was announced by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
On average, 6.9 people per 10,000 Dutch people reported to their GP last week with flu-like symptoms † Also, 24 patients have been reported who, due to laboratory-confirmed infection with New Influenza A (H1N1) were admitted to hospital.

A total of 151 patients have been hospitalized up to and including 14 October, four of these patients have died † 64 percent of the admitted patients had underlying medical problems.
Last week, four patients were admitted to intensive care † A total of 23 patients have been or have been admitted to the intensive care unit. Sixteen of these patients required mechanical ventilation.
