It has a lot more sugar in it than you might think!
Sugar content underestimated
Many people don't know how many calories are in supposedly "healthy" drinks. In general, the calorie count in carbonated soda is overstated, while the sugar content in smoothies and fruit juices is underestimated.
Pomegranate juice
In a study of 2,000 people, they were asked to map their weekly drinking habits, and then estimate how many teaspoons of sugar the drinks contained. The participants underestimated the amount of sugar in drinks such as apple juice, orange juice and energy drinks by two to four teaspoons. With pomegranate juice, that was even eighteen teaspoons.
Overconsumption The research institute therefore warns against overconsumption of these drinks. It could be a major cause of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Rather drink water, is the advice.
