Side effects
As early as the 1990s, researchers showed that other drugs such as tamoxifen (an estrogen drug) and raloxifene (a medicine for breast cancer and other cancers) also had a good effect. Unfortunately, there was one major drawback to these two drugs:they had extremely nasty side effects , as heart attacks and blood clots.
Good news
Now the American researchers have shown that exemestane is much more suitable for taking preventively against breast cancer. Another advantage:exemestane has few side effects †
Now it remains to be investigated how long the women should take the drug against breast cancer after menopause. The researchers are guessing that women will have to take the drug preventively after the menopause for about five years for result.
