We can breathe a sigh of relief again. The Great Flu Survey shows that the flu wave has finally come to an end.
On December 30, 2010, the Great Flu Survey warned that the flu was lurking † The flu wave lasted for more than eight weeks and in total 35 people in the Netherlands died from the Mexican flu. But luckily, at the beginning of March the number of flu cases has fallen considerably †
Belgium versus the Netherlands
22,000 volunteers from the Netherlands and Flanders participated in the Great Flu measurement and from this it was concluded that the number of flu cases has now been considerably lower for more than a week. The flu wave is therefore no more † There are currently slightly more flu cases in Belgium than in the Netherlands, and there are also slightly more people in the northeast of our country. But that's almost nothing compared to South and Northeast Europe. That's where the flu wave for a while and a high flu activity has still been measured.

Carnival
We must continue to be vigilant. The Great Flu measurement will last this season until May 1 , because it can never be ruled out that there will not be a second, smaller flu wave. Carnival Celebrations should pay particular attention. You can easily get ignited while partying in crowded spaces.
