We sunbathe because it makes us happy, according to research by Biodermal. In addition, we like to sit in the sun because we want to get tan.
Almost half of the Dutch feel healthier, more beautiful and more confident when they are brown. In addition, one third of Dutch people generally find sun-tanned people more handsome. Sunbathing is therefore an important part of the holiday for almost 20 percent of us, if only to show everyone that nice tan when they get home.
More than 85 percent of the Dutch say that the sun makes them happy, and many people even prefer to 'bake' in the sun for as long as possible. Applying a good sunscreen product is therefore not an unnecessary luxury. It is mainly men who do not always rub in well, out of convenience, men often do not feel like applying well. Women are more used to thinking ahead when it comes to their looks too.
Yet sunburn is still common. Here are a few tips to avoid this:
– Apply 30 minutes before going out in the sun;
– Drink enough water, so that the fluid balance in your body is maintained;
– Avoid the sun as much as possible between 12:00 and 15:00 hours;
– Do not stay too long in the sun, even if you use sunscreen;
– Apply liberally:if you apply too sparingly, the sun protection decreases sharply.
