Did your mother say it before? It has not been in vain. Chewing a bite longer gives you more energy and your body absorbs more nutrients.
Research
For the study, a group of test subjects chewed almonds 10, 25 or 40 times. Then the energy loss and the amount of fat in the stool were measured. With more chewing, healthy nutrients were absorbed more easily by the body and there were smaller pieces in the stool. When chewing less well, the pieces in the stool were larger.
Habit
It's difficult to adjust your chewing habits, but you can try to take them into account. If you eat almonds for the nutrients, chew longer or use chopped almonds.
