Children or adults, we are all affected by conjunctivitis.
This inflammation of the eye can have several different origins, but it is easily cured by natural means.
Conjunctivitis can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or an allergy.
The symptoms to watch out for are:redness, eye irritation, burning sensations and sometimes purulent-looking discharge.

You don't always know if your conjunctivitis or that of your children is of viral origin or not. Precautions must therefore be taken from the outset to avoid contagion.
- Keep your hands clean at all times. It happens of course that you touch your inflamed eyes and you could transmit the virus to your relatives.
- Care for your children by avoiding touching their eyes directly, or wear thin gloves.
- Change your pillowcases every 2 days, to avoid giving yourself the virus again.
- Do not lend your cosmetics, do not use those of your girlfriends.
For adults and children alike (adult, baby and infant), compresses can dramatically relieve conjunctivitis, without any danger .
- Chamomile Compresses : this plant has natural anti-inflammatory properties. It will help your eyes deflate and soothe your burning sensations.
- Black tea compresses : if you prefer black tea for your compresses, no problem because it has the same benefits as chamomile.
Brew chamomile or black tea and let cool. Then take gauze or cotton to remove make-up, which you soak generously. Apply to the eye from the outside inwards (so as not to spread the inflammation).
Repeat this gesture as often as you want during the day.
Another natural treatment:clay. The clay is anti-inflammatory and soothing.
It facilitates all healing naturally.
- Put clay on gauze.
- Then apply directly to the closed eye.
You can perform this gesture 1 to 2 times per day, in addition to compresses.
In addition to or instead of compresses, you can take eye baths .
It may be easier for an adult, but again there is no danger for children. The effects will be the same, it's just a matter of choosing the method you prefer.
- Choose the plant you have on hand:chamomile, calendula flowers, lavender hydrosol or even parsley. These plants all have the advantage of being astringent and decongestant.
- Infuse and let cool or cool.
- Take a generous bath with your eyes open.
You can repeat this gesture as many times as you want during the day.
- Vitamin A :this vitamin is involved in the synthesis of pigments of the eye. Subjects who do not consume enough are naturally more at risk of conjunctivitis.
You will find it in carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, peppers, or even in oils and fish.
- Vitamin C : because it is useful in the growth of collagen, which naturally maintains the connective tissues, it will be perfect to take care of your eyes.
You will find it in citrus fruits and exotic fruits, parsley, chives or even broccoli and Brussels sprouts.
- Zinc : a zinc deficiency can cause stunted growth, but also a decreased immune defense as well as eye and skin damage . It is a trace element that you should remember to consume on a daily basis.
You will find it in oysters, calf or pork liver, wholemeal bread, egg yolk or even milk and dried fruits.
When you know that eye drops can cost at least 10 € for a few days of treatment, we can only look into these natural solutions, with plants that we have on hand, and which are harmless even for the little ones.
