According to British authorities, a number of people vaccinated against Covid-19 have developed severe forms. Some of them were even admitted to intensive care. However, this concerns very few people and it is essential to remember that both doses of vaccines are necessary to effectively limit both the risks of infection and transmission.
A few days ago, doctor and France Télévisions journalist Damien Mascret spoke on the 19/20 set of France 3. He explained that across the Channel, more of 4,000 cases of people vaccinated have been infected with the virus. Some still developed a severe form (84) and some unfortunately died (26). In any case, these are the conclusions of a report published on June 18, 2021 by the British agency Public Health England, of the United Kingdom Department of Health.
Recall in passing that 54.2% of British citizens are fully vaccinated, or 36.1 million people. In total, the country administered more than 82 million doses. Also note that the Public Health England report addressed variants of global concern as well as those under investigation in the UK. The document gave many data concerning the famous variant Delta (known as "Indian") which is currently progressing in many countries.
Damien Mascret indicated that with a single dose of vaccine, the risk of infection is 35% . In the case of two doses, the risk in question decreases by 79%, which leaves little doubt about the necessity of having these two doses. He especially recalled that people vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are much less contagious. Indeed, the risk of transmission is reduced by 80% with one dose and by 96% with both doses.
In an article published by Le Parisien, the Department of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES) indicated that only 6% of patients tested positive to the coronavirus from June 28 to July 4, 2021 were fully vaccinated. This rate is even lower for asymptomatic cases (4.7%). Thus, very few vaccinated are contaminated. Finally, let's also mention another very important fact:over the given period, 80% of the positive cases had not yet received any dose of vaccine.
