In the United States, the electronic cigarette affair is experiencing a final twist, perhaps announcing the end of a scandal that will have lasted for months. Indeed the company Juul, specialized in the sale of e-cigarettes, has just been accused of having sold 1 million contaminated products!
A few months ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched an investigation in the United States. It was about a mysterious lung disease that actually affects a thousand consumers nationwide. While nearly twenty deaths have been deplored until today, New York State has banned the sale of e-cigarettes and has not waited for government approval.
The Juul company, founded in 2017 and based in San Francisco, is a company manufacturing electronic cigarettes. However, this one is currently dragged to justice , as CBS News claims in an October 30, 2019 article. The charges are serious:Juul allegedly sent at least 1 million contaminated electronic cigarettes to its customers and other retailers.
The accusation against Juul comes from a certain Siddharth Breja. The latter is none other than the former financial director of the company! According to him, the CEO at the time, Kevin Burns, had been informed of the contamination electronic cigarettes. Thus, it should be noted that Juul has never communicated this information to its customers and has not recalled any product.
Siddharth Breja said ready-to-ship e-cigarettes were expired. The person concerned had asked to indicate an expiry date , but his request was rejected outright.
Remember that Juul's electronic cigarettes appeal to young smokers . According to Siddharth Breja, Kevin Burns said upon being warned:
“Half of our customers are drunk and can't even stand up, who will notice the quality of our vapes? »
Thus, this twist in the case of electronic cigarettes could finally find a way out. This serious mistake made by the former CEO of Juul could well explain the appearance of the famous lung disease prevailing in the United States. However, it will be necessary to wait until the light is completely shed during the trial.
