From today a sun-drenched period starts; the sun has sun strength 5-6 for the first time this year from 12 noon to 3 p.m. This means that the skin can burn in about 20 minutes at this time of year. The rest of the week there can also be UV index 5-6 (moderate). KWF Kankerbestrijding wants to make everyone aware of the dangers of sunburn on these sunny days. Sunburn at a young age increases the risk of skin cancer later in life. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the Netherlands, with more than 55,000 diagnoses per year. Enjoy the sun and protect yourself and your children. The tips:
– Lubricate yourself and your children half an hour before going out into the sun with at least factor 30. Lubricate every two hours;
– Protect the skin with, for example, a shirt with sleeves, a cap and eyes with good sunglasses;
– The sun is strongest between 12 noon and 3 p.m. Find the shade during these hours.
In short:lubricate, clothes, keep.
