Does acupuncture really work, do you ever wonder? I do anyway. I once gave a talk about acupuncture, but secretly I was also skeptical. But even then acupuncture works, you don't have to be open to it, I found out then. Yet it has been a long time and I now again ask myself the question what does acupuncture all work for? Well, I was reminded of that by Suus's story about acupuncture and how it works for her.

The flu wave has been on its way for a while, but a few months ago I too had to believe it. Fever with a capital K and so stuffy. I tried to get rid of the cold on my bones with baths four times a day, but it didn't help.
In the end it turned out that I also had pneumonia, which immediately explained my shortness of breath. I can honestly say that this was the worst flu I've experienced in years. The MAN flu is nothing compared to 😉 . Just when I was going away for a weekend. A weekend without worries, without a child, really a weekend of ME time. So that turned out to be a weekend of ME time on my own couch under a blanket… although I didn't get much of that to be honest.
Because after more than 4 days there was still no real improvement and an acquaintance of mine had very good experiences with an acupuncturist, I started asking around. While I also wondered whether acupuncture works, I finally ended up with Annet Cheizo Acupuncture in Uden. I was able to go after a few days.
There I went, pale and utterly exhausted. When she asked what she could do for me, I replied “Can you reset me? I want to feel some energy in my body again.”
After a clear explanation of what she was going to do, I was allowed to lie down on the treatment table and she put about fifteen needles in my body from head to toe. You hardly feel the setting, what I did feel is that after a few minutes I could breathe more deeply than the days before.
After twenty minutes the needles were removed and I was allowed to leave after making a new appointment. As I walked to my car I felt my face warm again. That was confirmed by my rear-view mirror with a red blush on my cheeks. I was also able to take a deep breath again without ending up in a coughing fit.
The next day I texted Annet:“What you did, I have no idea… but I'm sooooo happy with it!! Really not normal what a difference in feeling. I slept well last night, there is air in my lungs again and there is some energy in my body again."
A week later I was allowed to return to Annet. I immediately made her my "bestie" and let her know that she can't just go on vacation anymore 😉 . After this good experience, I started looking into it further.
On Facebook I saw that Annet can also put needles against hay fever symptoms and given the fact that the birch pollen and I are not friends, I asked her to bring this. Because as with becoming more energetic, acupuncture might also work for me for hay fever. “No problem, let's add another needle”.
You can feel those needles, they hurt a bit themselves, but the result is really bizarre. I've only had to sneeze 3 times in 24 hours without having to take my meds. My health insurance reimburses part of the acupuncturist's bill, so that's also a nice bonus.
My tip. If you have ailments that you cannot get rid of (menopausal complaints, whiplash, hay fever, headache, fertility problems, etc.) and you are not afraid of needles, look for an acupuncturist. Preferably choose an acupunturist in your area who is affiliated with a professional association.
I now have an answer to the question 'does acupuncture work?' It works for me, really!!
