The human body can never cease to amaze you. Take a guess, how many bones do you think we have? And um, where does that 'cracking' of your bones actually come from?

Yes really! An adult human has 206 bones. Due to some deviations or simply anatomical differences, it does not vary from person to person, so you can miss a vertebra (also counts) or have one extra. A nice bonus fact is that a baby even has 350 bones. As a child grows, various bones eventually grow together. And so you end up with 206.

So you can put all jokes about aging on the fridge from now on. It's the tendons you hear. And they move along the bones and joints when you move. A kind of cable that you temporarily pull tight and that produces a sound.
