Bees are in danger of extinction and that is bad news; bees are important for nature and our ecosystem. With these tips you can make your garden or balcony more attractive to bees and give nature a helping hand.
Bees get nectar and pollen grains from flowers. By flying from flower to flower, they pollinate crops and new plants continue to grow. About 60 to 90 percent of the flowers and plants depend on pollination by insects. This is 70 percent of the crops on which our food is grown. Bees are important, because pollinating these crops by hand is actually impossible.
The bees are having a hard time because of less untouched nature and more pesticides such as poison.
Lice infestation? Do not immediately reach for poison, granules or a spray, but opt for natural combatants. Ladybugs, for example, eat aphids and basil and lavender have a smell that aphids don't like.
Mix 20 grams of green soap (without chemical additives), 20 milliliters of methylated spirits and 1 liter of lukewarm water. Spray it with a plant sprayer on the plants that suffer from a lice infestation.
Preferably hang it in a sheltered spot facing south. Bees love warmth and will settle faster in your bee hotel.
Make sure the bees have food by placing the right flowers and plants. Good choices include sunflowers, goodness flowers, ivy, bergamot, and lavender. Some garden centers sell special seed mixes for bees. Bees need flowers from spring to autumn, so choose flowers that bloom in different seasons.
Fallen leaves or berries attract insects, including bees.
