A batch of Mirena IUDs have been recalled as they may not be safe enough.

An error has been made with the introducer sheath that could cause the IUD to sit too high or too low. In some cases, it can even damage your uterus. It concerns a maximum of 200 IUDs, but just to be sure, the entire batch of 76,000 IUDs is being recalled. The IUDs can be recognized by the number TU01DCZ.

Have you had a Mirena IUD placed on or after October 27?

1. Wasn't an ultrasound made for verification? Contact your doctor. It is wise to still have a check-up ultrasound to check whether the IUD has been placed correctly.
2. Women with Mirena coil with lot no. TU01DCZ that has not yet been inserted is requested to return the coil to the pharmacy.
3. There is no risk for women who have had a Mirena IUD inserted on or after October 27 and who have had a check-up ultrasound.
