Are you looking for an effective and inexpensive mouthwash?
No need to buy Listerine, Signal or Vademecum!
Not only is it not cheap, but it is also very often ineffective...
Fortunately, there is an effective homemade mouthwash recipe to have super fresh breath.
Don't worry, it's easy to do and it doesn't cost almost nothing . Watch:
Contents
- 25 cl of demineralised, filtered or boiled water
- 2 to 3 drops of peppermint essential oil
1. Pour the demineralized water into a clean container.
2. Add the essential oils.
3. Shake well before each use.
4. Gargle with this liquid.
5. Spit the liquid into the sink.
There you go, thanks to this homemade mouthwash, no more bad breath and to you the super fresh breath :-)
Easy, fast and economical, right?
You can use this mouthwash 1-2 times a day.
As with a classic mouthwash, take care not to swallow the mixture.
Store this homemade mouthwash away from light, otherwise the essential oils will become less effective.
Here is another homemade mouthwash recipe that I particularly like.
Just change the essential oils used:
- 25 cl of demineralised, filtered or boiled water
- 3 drops of clove essential oil
- 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil
- 2 drops of sweet orange essential oil
- 1 drop of ginger essential oil
Peppermint :excellent for freshening the breath, it is naturally antibacterial, anti-inflammatory...
But also antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic and astringent.
Clove: antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and breath freshener.
Cinnamon: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and freshens the breath.
Sweet Orange: anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and bactericidal, it brings a pleasant taste to the mouthwash.
Ginger: stimulates salivation (saliva prevents dental caries, gingivitis and bad breath). Ginger essential oil is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, astringent and… aphrodisiac.
The vast majority of essential oils have disinfectant properties, so feel free to use them.
And there are plenty of other ingredients you can add to your homemade mouthwashes. Here are a few:
Baking Soda: add 1/4 teaspoon per 25 cl of water. Baking soda neutralizes bad breath and rebalances the pH.
Essential oil of myrrh: add 1 or 2 drops per 25 cl of water. Myrrh is used in the composition of several oral hygiene products. It has anti-inflammatory properties. But it also has antimicrobial, antiseptic and astringent properties.
Tea Tree Essential Oil: add 1 drop per 25 cl of water. Tea tree essential oil is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and antiviral.
I love these homemade recipes because they contain no alcohol or chemicals.
And they have another huge advantage:they are virtually free !
Okay, I'm exaggerating a little bit. But it's as if they were free:less than a penny per centilitre :-)
Look at the price comparison:
€0.12/cl for a Listerine mouthwash
VS
€0.0016/cl for Homemade Peppermint Mouthwash
- €0.01 Demineralised water (€2.39 / 5 l)
- €0.03 Peppermint essential oil (€4.99 / 10 ml)
Not bad, is it? When I told you it wasn't expensive!
