Recently I feel like people have gone crazy for BB creams.
To be honest, when I heard about these "BB cream ", I did a Google search to find out what "BB" stood for.
For those misinformed like me, the "BB" stands for "Beauty Balm" .
And in French, what does that mean? We could translate that as "anti-imperfection balm" or "beauty balm".
Curious to know more about this cream everyone is talking about? And especially on how to make your homemade BB cream ? So here we go!

A BB cream is a kind of all-in-one beauty product that can replace moisturizer, serum, makeup primer, foundation and even sunscreen on your face on its own.
Yes, just that! Worn alone or under your make-up, it is the ideal cream to apply.
Originally, BB cream was created in the 1960s by a German dermatologist, Christine Schrammek. It was designed to help patients' skin heal after surgery.
20 years later, she made her appearance in South Korea where her popularity quickly exploded. With Asians' porcelain complexions and healthy skin, it's no wonder this cream has been so successful.
Of course, there are always trendy products. But when something has been successful for 50 years and it lasts, there must be a good reason.
The all-in-one formula of BB creams is actually the perfect tool to hide and heal acne, give your skin a glow for an evening, moisturize it, fight against the signs of aging , protect your skin against harmful sun damage and soothe inflammation or redness.
But I would say what makes this product very interesting is that you can make your own homemade BB cream without too much difficulty.
Are you curious to know how? Here is the easy recipe for homemade BB cream:
- 1 teaspoon chamomile powder
- 1 teaspoon of burdock root oil
- 1 teaspoon of witch hazel water
- 1 tablespoon of mineral powder of your skin tone
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon of rosehip oil
- 1 teaspoon of melted beeswax
- 1/3 cup of aloe vera juice
- 2 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 2 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 1/4 teaspoon cetyl alcohol
- 1 teaspoon of vodka as a preservative (optional)
Once you have gathered all the ingredients, follow these steps:
1. In a double boiler, put the coconut oil, rosehip oil and beeswax. Heat gently until everything melts.
2. Stir regularly. Once the beeswax is completely melted, add your tea tree and peppermint essential oil to it. If you want to add vodka as a preservative, now is the time to do so.
3. Now that all your oils are mixed, pour this liquid into a clean container and set it aside.
4. Melt the cetyl alcohol in a saucepan. And in another pan, heat your aloe vera juice. Once it is boiling, add the cetyl alcohol to it.
5. It's time to add your powders. Make sure they mix well. You can use a mixer or a whisk, depending on your preference. I'm more of a fan of the electric mixer... it takes a lot less effort!
6. Once everything is as smooth as a baby's bottom, add the mixture of oils you have set aside and mix.
7. Pour the contents into a clean container.
There you go, your homemade BB cream is ready to use :-)
Who would have thought that making your BB cream is (relatively) so easy!
I don't know what you think about it, but personally I prefer to save my money and above all know what products I put on my face.
It's still better than putting chemicals on the skin, right?
For the 1st stage, you can use 2 containers of different sizes, with a few centimeters of water in the bottom of the larger one and the smaller placed in the larger one.
