Sun advice in the run-up to warm Easter

It will be a sunny Easter weekend and that is of course wonderful. But because it is still early in the year and the skin is not yet used to a lot of sun, the KWF advises you to protect yourself well against the sun with this spring sun. This means that every two hours you must lubricate well and thickly with a minimum factor of 30. In addition, it is better to stay in the shade between 12:00 and 15:00.

KWF offers current sun advice via a special app. This indicates the expected and current solar power per day. “Our advice is to lubricate every two hours from sun power 3 onwards. Sun power 5 is expected for Sunday and Monday,” explains Mischa Stubenitsky from KWF. The app provides personal sun advice based on your skin type, which is determined with a test, and the current sun strength. The KWF UV radar can be found in the app store.

Children
For children, you should always apply a minimum factor of 30 during the sunny periods, and repeat this every 2 hours. Children up to 1 year should be kept completely out of the sun. In addition, it is also good for children to put on a cap and possibly a long-sleeved shirt to protect them from the sun in this way. Sunburn at a young age increases the risk of skin cancer later in life. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the Netherlands, with more than 61,000 diagnoses per year.
