If you replace meat for healthy foods, you may lose a few pounds. But does that automatically mean that vegetarian food makes you slim?

For example, a large-scale study from Imperial College London showed that people who ate 250 grams of red meat, poultry or processed meat each day gained more weight in five years than people who ate less meat – even if they ate about the same number of calories per day. Eating no meat for a few days a week can help you maintain your weight, according to that research.

Carbohydrates

But beware:starting vegans sometimes gain weight because they suddenly start eating more carbohydrates in the form of white pasta, bread and potatoes.
