Your vestibular system ensures that you stay in balance. When you're behind the wheel, you decide what happens. Your vestibular system can respond to this, so that nothing is wrong. If you sit next to the driver, you can see what is going to happen, but you have no control and you sometimes see it just too late. Your vestibular system therefore reacts too late and that makes you nauseous.
