Less snacking due to 3 small changes in your kitchen

According to American researchers, small changes in your kitchen can help you resist snack temptations.

1. Tidy up the kitchen

People with clutter in the kitchen eat 44 percent more snacks than people whose kitchen is spic and span. Put the bag of cereal in the cupboard and leave only the fruit bowl (because:a healthy snack) in sight.

2. Seeing is eating

Fruit and vegetables at eye level in the refrigerator encourage you to eat healthily. Place pre-cut fruits and vegetables in clear containers on the center shelf so they are ready to eat as a snack. 'Hide' cheese, sausage and less healthy snacks in the vegetable drawers on the bottom.

3. Serve your food in the kitchen

Fill the plates while you're still in the kitchen and leave the pans on the stove. People who serve at the table eat more and are on average about four kilos heavier than those who do so in the kitchen.
