'We know that smoking and drugs are unhealthy. You get wrinkles faster from them, they can make you sick or make you look unhealthy. We don't want that, because we strive for a long, healthy and happy life. That is also the reason why many people are concerned with natural, healthy or low-carbohydrate food and why being fit and slim is such a trend.
Yet you can still be so healthy. If you have the following habits, you will be giving up years of your life without realizing it.
1. Too little sleep
Sleep is one of the healthiest things there is. Structurally too little sleep or sleeping against your biological clock can upset your body. This increases the risk of developing obesity, cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Too little sleep also causes your brain to age.
To keep your body healthy and in balance, it is therefore very important that you get enough sleep. Exactly how much you need differs from person to person, but on average this is between 7 and 9 hours.
If you're someone who goes to bed late every day and goes into the bedroom with your smartphone, there's a good chance that habit isn't good for your health. A shame, because you don't do all that healthy eating and living for nothing, do you?
Make sure your bedroom is dark and cool and turn off all equipment at least two hours before going to sleep. Set a sleep alarm that indicates that you have to be in bed within half an hour and start enjoying long nights from now on.
2. Being sexually frustrated
In addition to a healthy diet, exercise and sleep, more is needed for a long and happy life. Intimacy and sex contribute to this. Having sex ensures that happy hormones are released, it keeps stress at bay and contributes to healthy blood pressure. It is even sometimes seen as the secret recipe for a long, young and healthy life.
Sometimes sex is easy to miss. Focus on it more often and give it extra attention. Not only does it keep your relationship healthy, it's also good for your health.
If you are not in a relationship it can sometimes be a bit difficult, but you can also give yourself a hand. Also pay attention to finding a nice partner, your family and friends. Loneliness can make you very unhappy, cause stress and therefore make you older quickly.
3. A sedentary job
A large part of the working population sits in a chair eight hours a day and barely moves, which is not good for the circulation. It also causes stiff muscles and people with an office job experience on average more stress than people who are physically active during their work. Recent research shows that if you sit for more than three hours a day, your average life expectancy drops by two years. A life-threatening habit.
Try to look for activities in your sedentary job. Regularly make tea or coffee for yourself and your colleagues, go for a walk during the lunch break, do stretching exercises every hour and choose to use the phone on foot. If possible, cycle to work.
It is advised to exercise at least half an hour a day, but if you sit all day it is wise to make it at least an hour. This is good for your body and ensures that you can relax better.
All in all, enough reasons to take a good look at your other habits in addition to your dietary habits. It's a shame if you hand in years without knowing it, you might regret it.'
