Are you still tossing and turning after half an hour in bed? Then you better get out of bed.
Wrong association
Your bed is only for sleeping and sex. If you lie awake in bed too often, you associate your bed with lying awake and that can make it even harder to fall asleep next time.
When should you get out of bed?
It is best to get up if you lie awake for 20 minutes. It can differ per person, some people need a little more time to fall asleep.
And then?
Preferably do something soothing in low light and only go back to bed when you get tired.
