The use of (hot) air dryers increases the average number of bacteria on the hands, according to research by scientists at the University of Westminster .

The air movement of the (hot) air dryers causes a spread of the bacteria through the (toilet) room. The powerful, cold airflow from the jet-air dryer can even blow microbes on hands up to two meters from the dryer across the room.
The use of tissues is effective. The paper towels removes the bacteria from the hands , hold them and take them into the bin.
Especially in public places as schools and hospitals it is important to use paper handkerchiefs.
The results in a row:
– Jet air (cold air dryer), increase by the number of bacteria:42 percent (fingers) and 15 percent (palms);
– Standard warm air dryer , increase of the number of bacteria:194 percent (fingers) and 254 percent (palms);
– Tissues (including paper towels), decrease of the number of bacteria:76 percent (fingers) and 77 percent (palms).
