We take an average of 24,000 breaths a day. Reason enough to ensure clean and fresh air. The magic word? Ventilate.
This is how you ventilate your house properly
Ventilation in the house is important to keep the air clean, so we have listed all the tips to properly ventilate your home.
- It is not sufficient to ventilate the house 24 hours a day, for a few hours, it is not enough.
- Always leave the ventilation grilles in all rooms slightly open to ensure a constant, weak airflow. Don't have any grids? Then leave a (hinged) window ajar. If you have a mechanical ventilation system, always leave it on.
- Clean ventilation grilles annually. This also applies to the exhaust air in the kitchen, toilet and bathroom. Don't forget the grilles in the outer wall:they ensure dry cavity walls and crawl spaces.
- In well-insulated homes, such as energy-efficient new houses, ventilation is extra important, because fresh air comes in less spontaneously.
Just moved?
Ventilate extra; a new sofa or new carpet can create more potentially harmful substances in the air.
