The weather and the position of the moon affect the number of visitors who report to the emergency room in a hospital. This is apparent from research by the trauma surgery department of the University Medical Center Groningen.
The majority of patients who visit the emergency room , is doing so because of an accident sustained injury. Bad weather conditions are often the cause of accidents.
Strange but true: the department receives the most notifications in good weather. The researchers explain this by pointing out the fact that people are more likely to go out and engage in activities when they see the sun (read:in dry weather).
At full moon it is less crowded in the emergency room, because then visibility is better, according to the researchers' statement.
