The Mexican flu still causes little panic among the Dutch, even though there has been official talk about an epidemic since this week. This is apparent from research by Health Square.
700 people were asked via the website of Health Square whether they are afraid of the Mexican flu, 84 percent of the participants filled in absolutely not to be afraid † Most Dutch people don't think they will get the flu either.
About 70 percent of those surveyed also don't know anyone who has or has had the virus. This could of course be the reason for the carelessness. A vaccination against the virus is therefore considered unnecessary. Nearly 60 percent of those surveyed stated that they not get vaccinated against the swine flu virus †
It is striking that more than 10 percent still expect deaths in his or her environment due to the swine flu. This while the risk of death from swine flu is currently less than half a percent.
