One cause for the cold hands and feet can be poor circulation. In this article about cold feet there is a nice explanation of how it is that you can have those ice blocks as feet. One of the causes is poor blood circulation. To tackle this, you can do the following:
Do you often do that too? A rubber band around your wrist tie to? I myself switch from loose to solid hair several times a day. And then it's super handy when this rubber band is on my wrist. Only it does not promote blood circulation. It is better to find another place to store the rubber band, for example your pocket.
Sitting with your legs crossed is also not nice for the blood circulation and also causes cold hands and feet. If you often wear a skirt or dress, it is even better to keep both legs together and put them on the floor.
Changing pools on the other hand, have a good effect on blood flow. If you ever go to the sauna, you are probably familiar with it. The idea of an exchange bath is that you first place your feet and/or hands in warm water and then in cold water. By alternating this several times, the blood flow is started. And your skin will also thank you.
Yes really, a massage is good for blood circulation. Look at your partner sweetly and have your cold hands and feet massaged. And if this person does not want this, you can also book a massage of course.
Also exercise regularly is good for blood circulation. Can you afford to exercise for half an hour a day? Then you are well on your way! Otherwise, you may want to take the stairs as much as possible, walk to the grocery store, and take the bike for short trips and leave the car behind. Regular exercise is of course healthy for you, but also works against cold hands and feet.
In addition to stimulating blood flow, food can also provide warm hands and feet. This is how spicy food cause endorphins to be released. A happiness hormone with analgesic effect. And that helps against those cold feet and hands.
Another tip I read is that your warming food should eat or drink. Think of warm herbal tea or use special herbs. Herbs that have a warming effect are ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, pepper, cayenne pepper and rosemary. I think you have to eat and drink a lot, but every little bit helps 😉 .
Wool socks keep cold feet really warm. Thanks sheep! If this is too much for you, you can also put on bamboo socks. Or two cotton socks over each other.
It also helps to rub cold hands and feet with Vaseline † Do this at your feet before going to bed, otherwise you will slip all over the house. The Vaseline retains body heat better. It therefore has an insulating effect.
Recently I was visiting our neighbor. She has a rule that visitors must take off their shoes. Fine of course, only she has a stone floor. And if you quickly have cold feet, it seems that the cold pulls up to your head. I don't always find thick wool socks comfortable in my shoe, they make them so tight and they don't look super hip, do they? In addition, they can also sting. I prefer a different solution in my case.
Fortunately, after comments from others, she had an alternative:a slipper basket. This basket contains all kinds of Spanish slippers. Do you remember them? Those slippers you used to get for Sinterklaas? These will keep your feet a bit warmer than just a cotton sock.
What works best for me, besides all these tips, is a slipper with sheep wool in it. I saw the Warmbat slippers with a mother in my son's class. From Australia and filled with sheep's wool, somewhat similar to Uggs. She told me she's had super warm feet since wearing these. And that she can also walk outside with it.
I don't wear shoes in our house either. Partly because our youngest is just starting to crawl, but also because I often walk in heels. Indoors I want to give my feet some rest. I've decided to ask for those slippers with sheep's wool for my birthday. Because warm feet are super nice! And it makes me fall asleep faster, that also counts heavily, doesn't it?
