Do you always lie in your bed with two ice cubes? Chances are you won't be able to sleep until your feet feel a little comfortable. This is why you always have cold feet!
But how do you do that? And why do women suffer from cold feet?
Men always seem to have warm feet, while a woman gets cold all over her body because of her clammy feet † This is due to a different blood circulation. In addition, women have on average less muscle mass than men. And heat is produced by… muscle mass.
Whether or not socks in bed – in addition to the studies that have been done – mainly a personal choice. One can't sleep without it, the other can't think of putting on socks before going to bed. Are you from the 'socks on' department? In any case, make sure that you do not wear tight or too warm socks. Nice big socks made of bamboo or these sheep's wool are a good idea. Or other great socks made of natural materials .
Of course you get hot from moving. Go for a walk before going to bed or move your feet while you're under the covers. Spin in circles. Or massage your feet with a massage oil † There is a good chance that you will also get nice soft feet. After massage you can still put on socks, if you want.
Are you at your wits' end? Then try taking an alternating bath. Your blood circulation is stimulated by alternating cold and warm water. Prepare two foot baths; one with cold and the other with nice warm water. Alternately put your feet in one bath for a few minutes and a few minutes in the other. Warm water lowers your blood pressure, cold water restores it. So end with the cold water.
Having cold feet at night is not a concern. Do you have two ice cubes during the day? Then it is smart to check whether there is no medical cause. If you sit at your desk with cold feet, make sure you take a walk regularly. Try to keep moving. You will soon notice that your feet get nice and warm. This can be done by standing in a meeting or walking around while talking on the phone. Be sure not to sit with your legs crossed, that will cause your blood flow to stagnate. So keep moving and get up every now and then. You can use your Fitbit even let you know when it's time to get up.
