It's been years since I first tried brushing my teeth with charcoal. A strange thing if you are normally used to just using regular toothpaste. Now I wanted some whiter teeth, which is why I did a review at the time about brushing with activated charcoal to make my teeth whiter. Because well, who doesn't want radiant healthy teeth † I do, but preferably without too much effort, that's how I am again 😉 .

My experiences at the time were certainly positive. Although you really have to get used to it, that's a fact. It is not only strange to brush your teeth with charcoal because it is a granular substance. The color also takes some getting used to. It does feel a bit strange to see black stuff in your mouth, haha.
But besides the fact that it takes some getting used to, it's home teeth bleach a breeze this way. You just brush your teeth as you are used to, but with charcoal instead of regular toothpaste. And with that, your teeth will automatically become a bit whiter.
First of all, it might be just as good to know what charcoal exactly is. Charcoal, also called activated charcoal or activated carbon, is a black powder that is 100% natural. It is double filtered charcoal powder with a very low abrasive value. This low abrasive value makes it safe for use and at the same time provides a natural way of whitening teeth that you can easily do from home.
Moreover, natural products are often used for whiter teeth. Products such as orange peel and lemon are also sometimes mentioned. I myself (certainly about the latter) is a bit hesitant because we all know that acids can really affect your teeth. And of course you don't want that if you want to make your teeth look less yellow.
Brushing your teeth with charcoal is a great alternative to using any fruit acids. You do not use acids due to the activated carbon and as long as the percentage of activated carbon is not too high (around 1%) it is completely safe to use. If you use a stronger concentration, it will also affect your tooth enamel. So important to know that. Do you know how to recognize that the concentration is not too high? Look at the ingredients list. The further back the ingredient is on the ingredient list, the lower its concentration. So if the charcoal is reasonably far behind, you know that you are safe with the percentage.
And don't think you can't use your regular toothpaste anymore, because for these lifehacks you also have toothpaste needed 😉 .
If you are going to brush your teeth with charcoal, you can certainly expect your teeth to become a bit whiter. Don't think that you can whiten your teeth with charcoal so much that you get the toothpaste smile that you see in commercials and movies. That's not realistic. Not only as an expectation of the use of charcoal, and also not of other remedies.
It is true that you get the dark deposits of coffee, tea or red wine brushed away with charcoal, so brushing your teeth will definitely give you results.
Have you ever tried it?
