There are (apparently) quite a few people who wonder 'What to do on Sunday?'. We've never had a problem with that! I think I think it's the most wonderful day of the week, even if it's the day before the week starts again 😉 . I think this is because Sunday is the time for us to really relax a bit. I'm up for a Lazy Sunday! Of course we have regular appointments. A birthday here, a dinner there or a family visit. Cozy, but luckily never early in the morning. And never later in the evening!

There are two things that are sacred to me on Sunday. That's Sunday morning and Sunday evening! I like nothing better than starting the day a little quietly on Sunday. Sleep in until about 09.00 (the children are already downstairs) and then have a nice breakfast with the four of you. Of course after the dog has been let out. Or we first take an extended walk and then have a kind of brunch.
I prefer to poop around the house afterwards. Small jobs, mess around in the house and a little work. But if we plan something, we plan it in the afternoon. If we have such a feeling of 'what shall we do on Sunday' or are we slightly 'bored', we head for the forest or the beach. Get some fresh air.
Sunday evening is, if possible, even more sacred than Sunday morning. If we don't have anything planned, we start at the end of the afternoon with a nice movie for the children and we eat something easy and tasty for the table. For example, a soup. At the TV. To create a kind of Lazy Sunday feeling. Delicious! Not having to do too much and just having fun together.

And after that… after that our 'holy' evening begins 😉 . The children are sent to bed on time. We quickly get them through the shower (not just on Sunday evening ) and make sure they are in bed on time. Lotte goes to sleep right away, but Luc obviously doesn't. He's not completely crazy, is he, we can't get him in bed to sleep at 7.30 pm.
But what is in his system is that he then goes up. After taking a shower, just go to bed and watch some TV. We have consciously brought this moment into his system and I will tell you why…
And there begins our evening, our moment. A moment we both long for, a Lazy Sunday evening.
We are all busy during the week. Busy with work, with school, with studying, sports and other things like that. It is already an art to be in bed on time at all. For everyone. On Friday evening and Saturday evening the children are absolutely not in bed on time. They know very well that they can stretch the evening because they don't have to go to school anyway, so those are kind of 'their' evenings.
However, the Sunday evening is ours! From 20.00 the children can no longer be found downstairs and the living room is ours. Including the TV, and the fireplace! Yay!
Candles on, some tasty healthy snacks on the table and a drink. The snacks often consist of a cheese with pickle, or some rolled raw ham. Last week I got some delicious eel from the fishmonger #nomnomnom. No wine on Sunday evening, no tea and no water (which we often drink) but a nice soft drink. Pamper ourselves with a Coca-Cola zero sugar. Low in calories, but really tasty.
And finished. Ready to toast and chat about the week that has been and the week to come. Without being disturbed. Briefly make some plans to bring some structure into the week. Who's doing what? Who needs what? And when?
So we start in front of the fireplace, and then kick off our shoes and hang out together on the couch to lose ourselves in, for example, a series on Netflix. Until recently we hung our lips on Jax and his motor crew, now we have seen it completely and we have started on HS13. Also nice! My Ultimate Lazy Sunday! And also the dog's 😉 .
Even if it is only for a few hours, because going to bed on time is also on our agenda for Sunday.
