Our lungs are literally vital, because they ensure that we can breathe properly. With healthy lungs, this comes naturally, so that we would almost forget how important they are. Keep your lungs healthy with these tips.
By exercising or moving you get a better condition and stronger lungs. You don't always have to exercise exuberantly. Dancing and going for a walk are also good ways to keep moving.
That means:regular vegetables, fruit, dairy, grains and good fats.
Singing or playing a wind instrument makes your lungs stronger. They are good breathing exercises. This will improve your condition.
For example by not burning wood. Wood smoke releases particulate matter, which is bad for your lungs. Healthy air is also important indoors, so make sure you ventilate sufficiently 24 hours a day.
In the fall and winter, people are prone to pneumonia. In buses, trains and buildings it is easier for bacteria and viruses to transfer. Good hygiene does the trick. Wash your hands regularly with good soap.
If there is a lot of pollution or smog in the air, it is better not to exercise or do other activities outside, especially during rush hour. Rather plan it in the morning or later in the evening.
Do you cough regularly? Are you quickly out of breath? Maybe there's more to it than a cold. It can of course be corona, so do a test at the GGD. Have you tested negative but the symptoms persist? Always check with your doctor just to be sure. Or do the COPD risk test for lung-related complaints. A timely diagnosis can prevent worse.
