According to Charlotte Labee, the importance of a National Brain Day is of great importance. More knowledge about the brain should be central to this. “Now more than ever, we need to improve our mental health. And we can do that by spreading brain knowledge and taking good care of our brains.”
Right now more and more people are struggling with an imbalance in their brain. The number of brain-related diseases such as stress, obesity, burnout, depression and dementia is increasing at an alarming rate. Charlotte:“A major cause of this is lifestyle. Think of too much stress, sitting still, screen time, junk food and too little sleep, relaxation, exercise and healthy nutrition.”

One in five Dutch people will have to deal with depression in his or her life and more than 50% of the Dutch will have to deal with burnout complaints. More than 62% of the Dutch sleep poorly and 85% of the millennials are currently feeling depressed. “It's time for a change!” so thinks Labee. “I am deeply concerned about this situation, but know that together we have the strength to turn the tide.”
Charlotte Labee is sounding the alarm and has therefore declared March 20 as 'National Brain Day', the day on which the importance of more knowledge about the brain is central. “Let's all make a difference, now more than ever we need to improve our mental health. And we can do that by spreading brain knowledge and taking good care of our brains, which reduces mental illness, imbalance, stress and ill health.” Because, as Chartlotte states:“By increasing awareness and knowledge of the brain, we can consciously get started with our lifestyle.”
