Monday, December 14 at 7 pm Prime Minister Rutte will give a speech about the new and probably stricter corona measures from his office in the Torentje.
It is striking that this time, just like the first time during the corona crisis, his speech will be delivered from his office, says political reporter Xander van der Wulp. “We've only seen that once before, when it was so bad in the spring.”
According to the political reporter, it is "a harbinger that the measures will be firm" and the cabinet is trying to regain the sense of urgency among the Dutch.
It is not yet entirely clear what the stricter measures are. For example, there is speculation that non-essential stores will have to close for a while. This will probably also apply to places where there is a lot of people passing through, such as museums, animal parks, theaters and amusement parks.
The schools may have to close again for a while and the advice to only go out if it is really necessary is being considered.
